IDNet – an intelligent system for detecting attacks on customer verification and countering money laundering

Full project title: IDNet: research and development of an intelligent system for the advanced detection of attacks on customer verification processes and for countering money laundering based on identities stolen or fabricated by organised criminal groups

Agreement no.
FENG.01.01-IP.01-A0WI/25
Implementation period
Jul 1, 2026 – Oct 31, 2028
Eligible costs
PLN 13,219,980.00
EU co-funding
PLN 10,385,255.00

Project goal

The goal of the project is to carry out research and development work and build an intelligent system for the advanced detection of attacks on customer verification processes and for countering money laundering that relies on identities stolen or fabricated by organised criminal groups.

Project tasks

As part of the research and development work, we will develop:

  • advanced cryptographic algorithms based on Secure Multi-Party Computation (MPC), enabling institutions to exchange anonymised information;
  • deep machine learning methods for processing biometric data.

Target groups

Institutions of public trust that verify their customers' identity, including banks, financial institutions and telecommunications companies.

Results

The result of the project will be IDNet, a product that marks a breakthrough in remote identity verification: a product innovation in the form of a multi-source system for exchanging anonymised information between institutions of public trust (e.g. banks, financial institutions, telecommunications companies). Built on advanced cryptographic algorithms based on Secure Multi-Party Computation (MPC) and on deep machine learning methods for processing biometrics, it will revolutionise the detection of stolen and fake identities.

The project is co-funded by the European Union under the European Funds for a Modern Economy 2021–2027 programme. It is carried out under the National Centre for Research and Development's SMART Path call.

Strengthening IDENTT's international brand presence in AI and cybersecurity through participation in foreign trade fairs

Full project title: Strengthening the International Presence of the IDENTT product brand in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity through participation in foreign trade fairs on AI and Cybersecurity

Implementation period
Mar 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2026
Project value
PLN 469,663.94
EU co-funding
PLN 234,831.97

Project goal

The goal of the project is to increase IDENTT's presence on the international stage in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity. Participation in prestigious foreign trade fairs lets our experts establish direct contacts with industry leaders, take part in knowledge exchange, and present our achievements and innovations.

Taking part in these events is part of our international expansion strategy: it promotes IDENTT, increases brand awareness, establishes new business relationships and acquires customers and partners from the global market — opening new markets and strengthening our position internationally.

Project tasks

As part of the trade fairs, we plan:

  • presentations, lectures and workshops, in which IDENTT's teams of experts present the latest achievements and innovations in AI and share their experience and predictions about the technology's future development;
  • a professional exhibition stand presenting our products, research projects and case studies — a place for business contacts, demos and detailed information about IDENTT;
  • B2B meetings — direct conversations with potential partners, clients and other industry representatives, to establish relationships and plan future collaboration;
  • participation in discussion panels, debates and Q&A sessions, to share knowledge and gain new insights from other industry leaders.

Target groups

Potential customers and business partners in foreign markets, and representatives of the artificial intelligence and cybersecurity industries.

The project is co-funded by the European Union under the European Funds for a Modern Economy 2021–2027 programme, Brand Promotion of Innovative SMEs measure.

Development of a system for automatic, remote verification of identity documents, ensuring multi-faceted information security

Agreement no.
FENG.01.01-IP.02-0761/23
Implementation period
Jan 1, 2024 – Apr 30, 2026
Project value
PLN 18,683,519.00
EU co-funding
PLN 12,240,280.00

Project description

Systems for remote, automatic identity verification are being used in more and more sectors of the economy, responding to the requirements of national and international regulations in the field of eKYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering).

Reading data from identity documents is a basic component of every identity verification system currently on the market. For identity verification to be possible, it is necessary to verify whether the presented document is genuine or fake.

Project goal

The aim of the project is to develop new, remote methods of identity document verification. In the course of research, algorithms will be developed to prevent new types of attacks to which currently available solutions are not resistant. Particular emphasis will be placed on the scalability and efficiency of solutions for large datasets. The project also includes, among others, analysis of cryptographic protocols, anonymisation techniques guaranteeing differential privacy, format-preserving encryption, metadata analytics about processes, and analytics of the characteristics of presented documents. The resulting solutions will be characterised by higher efficiency indicators than the competition.

The new, comprehensive document verification solution responds to market needs, taking into account IDENTT's existing competitive advantages, including experience in providing automatic identity verification systems to leading financial institutions in Poland and around the world.

Target groups

Entities that use remote identity verification in their relations with customers in order to provide them with their services.

The project is co-funded by the European Union under the European Funds for a Modern Economy 2021–2027 programme, SMART Path.

A biometric liveness verification system for remote identity verification processes

Implementation period
Nov 6, 2022 – Dec 31, 2023
Project value
PLN 8,018,167.05
EU co-funding
PLN 5,979,913.60

Project goal

The main goal of the research and development project is to build a biometric liveness verification system for remote identity verification processes.

The system will confirm, through liveness verification, that identification is carried out by the person entitled to use the identity document.

The system will be based on a set of artificial intelligence algorithms developed within the project.

Results

The main result of the project will be computer software that performs biometric liveness verification based on the analysis of biometric features captured with a webcam, a mobile device, or Dot Projector or LIDAR sensors built into the device, by implementing new, dedicated artificial intelligence algorithms and solutions for acquiring data from built-in sensors.

The resulting system (computer software) will make it possible to confirm that a specific person is taking part in a given process carried out remotely.

The project is co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund under the Smart Growth Operational Programme 2014–2020. The project is carried out under the National Centre for Research and Development's Fast Track competition.
